Tamar Class – Year 4
Miss Jameson with Mrs Boulton and Mrs Evett
In Year 4, we like to be creative and have lots of fun while we learn! Miss Jameson likes to try something new and will always be thinking of inventive ways to adapt lessons and teach new learning. We love reading, history and completing art projects amongst other learning, and if we can be outside...even better!
We enjoy getting to grips with our times tables! We play lots of games to enhance our understanding, which involves setting ourselves challenges, beating the clock and using our outdoor environment.
We love being creative and using story maps to learn our class texts. Then we use our knowledge and imagination to create our own versions. We love reading and sharing stories and have some great class stories linked to our topics, as well as a range of books for independent reading.

We have some fantastic topics to cover this year such as Rainforest, Roman Invasion and Disaster. These topics link with our history and geography learning as well as with other subjects such as science, art and design and technology.
Parent Curriculum Information
Each half-term we share an overview of our curriculum with our parents/carers. A copy of these can be found at the bottom of this page. A paper copy is sent home each half-term. We hope our parents/carers find this useful information to know what their child is learning and to support them in having conversations with their children.
Homework
Each half-term, we create and send home a homework menu. This has a range of learning activities linked to our current topic and reading. We send a paper copy home to parents each half-term.
Knowledge Organisers
These provide the key knowledge we will be learning in our foundation topics this half-term. It would be useful to look at these with you child and talk about them. You could have mini quizzes to see what they can remember, draw parts of them, or they can create their own version. This will help the children to ensure they remember the knowledge fully.
If you would like another copy of any of these documents, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Tamar Class have been learning the ukuleles with Sally from the Cornwall Music Service Trust. The children had a wonderful time practising their new skill and used them during a Christmas carol service performance!
On Wednesday September 8th, Tamar Class visited The Box in Plymouth. A fantastic learning experience for one and all!
Look at our learning through the topic of Disasters. We made fantastic volcanoes as part of our home learning.
